I don’t know about everybody else, but when I get a friend request from someone I don’t know and haven’t heard of on Facebook, I usually look at their profile. First, I want to know they are from Second Life and not IMVU. Secondly, I want to make sure they are from SL and not some rando from God knows where just adding all the females he can find. On that note, if I have the time, I will give their timeline a quick glance. If everything is in a language I don’t understand (which is pretty much anything, but English) then I probably won’t add them. If the first thing I see offends me or leads me to believe they will be easily offended by me, I probably won’t add them.
This morning, I logged into to several friend requests and the first thing I saw was a post about how this person was on the verge of quitting SL. There was no point in logging in anymore. Asking what was the point, because all of her friends were gone. This is when I think in memes. You know the meme of the toddler that’s coming down the hall, turns the corner…sees something and turns right back around and is out of there? Yeah, that was me looking at this profile and hitting decline. NOPE.
